AfroSzn hits the scene with local DJs

As part of a bold new-year regimen for Jamaica's nightlife, a fresh cultural experience is set to take root. Radio personalities DJ Powa and DJ Denvo, founders of AfroSzn, are inviting Kingston to tap into the pulse of Africa's global sound.

On January 29, Dubwise in Kingston will come alive with rhythm, culture, and soulful vibes as AfroSzn makes its official debut. Patrons can expect an immersive Afro-centric music experience celebrating the sounds that are shaping dance floors worldwide.

A tri-monthly Afro-centric music experience curated by two of Jamaica's most respected DJs, the AfroSzn concept was created to celebrate authentic African-influenced music, build a thriving community of Afro-music lovers, and provide a consistent premium space where Afro House, Afrobeats, Amapiano, and other African genres can truly thrive in Jamaica.

"AfroSzn is about intention," said DJ Denvo. "We love dancehall and reggae -- that's our foundation -- but Afro-centric sounds are global right now, and Jamaica needs a space that treats those genres with respect, structure, and consistency. This isn't just another party; it's a movement. A key part of that movement is educating the community about the culture, so people don't just hear the music, but truly connect with it."

While Jamaica's love for music is unmatched, Afro-centric genres such as Afro House, and Amapiano remain under-served in mainstream nightlife, despite their rapid growth among young urban audiences and their influence on global fashion, dance, and culture.

"People are already listening to this music, dancing to it, travelling for it," added DJ Powa. "There's something embedded in the music that gives [sic] the feeling of being rooted. There's no better way to describe it other than personally experiencing it."
