After Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, leaving heartbreak and destruction in its wake, dancehall star Vanessa Bling didn't just watch from afar -- she rolled up her sleeves and got to work.

The Future Guaranteed singer has teamed up with international promoter CJ Milan in a powerful show of female leadership and compassion, uniting their voices and resources to help hundreds of Jamaicans who lost everything.

"CJ Milan is a woman of stature; always representing for the culture and we decided that we need to get this going immediately so we started off with supplies for 1,000 families," Vanessa Bling told THE STAR.

Hurricane Melissa , The most powerful hurricane to lash the island since record-keeping began 174 years ago, struck Jamaica, particularly western parishes, with enormous force last Tuesday. At least 28 persons have been confirmed dead, countless families left homeless, and the country's infrastructure severely damaged.

For Milan--who is currently in Jamaica promoting Mavado's upcoming concert under her Reggae Fest brand--the call to action was immediate.

"It just had to happen. This has to be a global effort; I'm here, Reggae Fest is here. We have profited from Jamaica, now we need to take care of Jamaica," she told THE STAR.

So far, the duo's relief drive has reached Hanover and St Elizabeth, with St Ann and Manchester next on their list. Each care package--packed with water, rice, juice, canned food, and sanitary items--has brought much-needed relief to families struggling to rebuild after the Category 5 storm.

Their humanitarian push mirrors a growing wave of generosity across the entertainment industry, with artistes such as Beenie Man, D'Angel, and Romeich Major also sending supplies to affected parishes.

Still, Vanessa Bling and Milan remain laser-focused on the bigger mission of "rebuilding a stronger Jamaica."

"We have life, it can't any get better than that. We just have to be a bit patient even though it's hard. I'm seeing thousands of persons giving back and many agencies, countries donating. We will rise again," Vanessa said with optimism.

Milan, who is of Jamaican descent, revealed that some of her relatives were directly impacted by the hurricane, but she remains thankful for their safety.

"I have relatives all across Jamaica but all are alive and that's what matters. We will rebuild and be stronger than before. I'm here now in the country so I'll be taking on the road full force," she promised.

While Vanessa Bling has been pouring her heart into relief efforts, she admits that the emotional toll of the disaster briefly silenced her creative spirit. The Powerful Woman artiste revealed that she has begun working on a Melissa-inspired single meant to "comfort and heal" the nation.

"I went to the studio, started singing but the song was so sad, I stopped recording, [but] I will return tomorrow," she said.

"I'm an authentic recorder so I sing with lots of emotions; [but] a song has started and will be finished when the energy is right," she added.
